The economy sucks

Everyone is feeling the pinch these days. The economy sucks right now and whether or not it's George Bush's fault, I'm going to blame it on him because he sucks and I'm happy to blame all of the country's problems on him.

With that being said....the fiancee and I did some food shopping this weekend and man, is shit getting expensive. Here in New York City, groceries are generally more expensive anyway and even though most of us don't have cars and aren't directly paying for higher gas costs, it's affecting the cost of everything around us.

We tried to be good and check out some circulars before going food shopping but didn't really see anything of value, or any coupons for anything we'd normally buy. I'm a sucker for buying stuff I don't need just because it's on sale, but the fiancee usually keeps me in check. We also checked out some online deal sites to see what kind of deals we could find (after reading this consumerist article), but the sites are very hard to navigate (WAY too many categories and hard to actually find any deals/coupons) and ended up not really finding anything.

Once out food shopping we tried to be good, buy things that were on sale, but it still ends up costing a ton of money. To be honest, I'm not sure how middle income families pay for these groceries.

So, what can we do? Is ordering from freshdirect.com cheaper? How about amazon.com for certain groceries? Do we need to dig in deeper to those deal/coupon sites? I really don't know...but if you do, please let me know.

Complaint - Noisebot is pissing me off

Noisebot.com is a t shirt site that's much bigger than little old BurnTees. I recently came across a rather large ad of theirs on Hollywood Stock Exchange that was sent to me by a fan. On it, Noisebot is advertising their Jesus Saves, Passes to Noah t shirt.

This pisses me off because our Jesus Saves t shirt has been around a lot longer than theirs, but since they have the advertising $'s, they're able to go out and push their t shirt in more places and in the end, it makes us look like the copycats. Obviously the designs are different and theirs uses Noah instead of Moses, but I think it's safe to say that it's pretty much the same idea. It's bad enough that there's now TONS of Jesus Saves hockey shirts out there (as far as I know, ours is the original), but when a large site like this does it, it just bothers me more.

This pisses me off to no end but there's not much I can do about it (other than complain on my blog) since the design is different and therefore it's not copyright infringement. I just needed to take a moment to complain.

Rock Band = Awesome

Saturday night the fiancee and I visited our awesome friends Adam and Lisa who bought us Guitar Hero III for our engagement (I wrote about that earlier...read the article here). We saw Lisa's amazing new apartment, ate, talked, blah blah blah...and played Rock Band on the XBox 360!!! Now, I love Guitar Hero III which we have for the Wii, but with 4 of us, this was SO MUCH FUN!

The main difference between Rock Band and Guitar Hero (in case you don't know) is that Guitar Hero is only played on the guitar and rock band allows you to play guitar, drums and sing. Adam and Lisa have 2 guitars so we were able to play lead guitar, bass, sing, and play drums on every song. Drums were definitely tough the first few times, but after a few songs, you get the hang of it and it is tons of fun.

Our band (Bad 80's Bikini) rocked out all night and now the fiancee and I can't wait to buy Rock band for the Wii. It's a little expensive (amazon is letting you pre-order for the low low price of $169.99), but after playing it, I can definitely say that it's completely worth it. It's a ton of fun for just one person and even more fun when you have friends over.

We ended up staying up playing Rock Band till 3 in the morning which is the latest we've stayed up in quite a while. We happen to know exactly when we last stayed up that late because the last time it happened it was quite a feat for us as well (we're getting so old).

Moral of this post? 1) Thank you Adam and Lisa for showing us an awesome time on Saturday night. We had so much fun. 2) Go out and buy Rock Band.
